In 1955 an improved prototype, the Konan 16 II Automat, was made by the Konan Camera Research Institute Inc.. This model saw a shift of the shutter speed and aperture dials from the top, next to the shutter release, to the side. The dials can be set without opening the camera and risk loosing a frame and avoiding unintentional changes to the settings.
