Introduction

In 1950 Tynar Corporation of Los Angeles, USA introduced the Tynar camera. It is similar in appearance to the Minute 16 but gives even lower quality results. The meniscus f6.3 lens has no aperture setting and has a single shutter speed of 1/50s. The 14 exposures are 10x14mm on 16mm perforated film in a special film cartridge.  The camera is made of cast metal with a sliding door to load the film. The viewfinder frame pops up.

The cassette is like those of the Minute 16 and Pixie but constructed of metal. If has a deep well under the upper end to fit over a round rod inside the camera; at the inside end of this is a key-way for the film advance mechanism. The cassette is stamped "Property of Tynar Corporation" in an attempt to retain sole rights for all processing and film supply.

Although in production for only a few months samples can be found today in working order. Cartridges are also common.

The brochure went through at least two revisions.
