Introduction

The Zany was manufactured by Nihon Seimitsu Kogyo (Nihon Precision Industries) in the 1950s. It uses special cassettes to hold 16mm movie film and giving a 10x14mm negative. The fixed focus Gemmy Anastigmat 1:4.5=25mm lens stops down to f12. Shutter is marked B, 25, 50 and 100.

Shaped like a small Leica, better build than many of the similar looking subminiature of the period it has an optical view finder and shutter speed selection by a knob on the front of the camera.

It is uncommon inside Japan and virtually unknown outside. A number of variations in markings have been seen.
