Introduction and contents

Balda-Werk, Dresden, Germany was founded in 1908 by Max Baldaewg and noted for it's photographic accessories and in the 1920s for rollfilm cameras. After the war Max Baldaweg moved to West Germany and founded Balda Kamera-Werk in Bunde in 1948.

Balda developed working relations with Minox and manufactured the Minox 110 and 35mm cameras and marketed a similar cameras under their own name.

Balda CE35

Introduced in 1983 the Balda CE35 is a small (103x62x32mm, 147g) 35mm folding camera. Bright line finder with distance symbols and slow speed LEDs. Back light compensation. Baldanon f2.8/38mm lens. f2.8/1 sec to f16/500. Detachable flash - CF18. Body has a leather like pattern in the moulding.

Yangtze Balda CE 35A - 1989 The lens ring has 'Yangtze-Balda' inscription. Production tools were sold to China. First models were assembled by Chinese technicians in Germany and from 1995 were manufactured in China. The inscription was then changed to read "Germany Design".

Balda CS 35

The Balda CS35 is similar to the Balda CE35 but includes a self timer.

Mini 35 Plus - version sold in United Kingdom

Voigtländer Vito CS (1980) As Vito C (1980) but backlight compensation button and electronic self timer added.

Yangtze Balda CS 35 - similar to the Yangtze Balda CE 35 but with electronic self timer and different battery type.
