Minox 8x11 - Ultima film

introduction | Riga | 50s | 60s | 70s | 80s | 90s | 2000 | Ultima | cartridges compared

Ultima film was sold in plastic cases of a similar style to the cases used with their 16mm Minolta film cassettes. Unlike Minox Ultima stencilled onto the film cartridge the expiry date as well as on the sticky tape band that sealed the cases. Yashica used similar cases and film cartridges for the Atoron and Atoron Electro cameras.

The Ultima and Yashica plastic cassettes pre date the Minox version. They also have the indent on the film feed side, but this is only 2mm compared to the 4mm depth of the Minox cassettes.  The bridge has a thumbnail indent to assist in taking the cassette from the film chamber. The photographs below compare the Ultma cassette with those of Minocolor 2 and 3.
